How to Implement NJ Y&G

  1. Contact Michael Gallagher, the YMCA New Jersey Youth & Government Program Director to inform him of your intent to participate and begin to recruit students for the program.  At least six (6) students are recommended to form a delegation.

  2. Submit the Intent to Participate Form along with a Delegate Credential  and $100 deposit per student & advisor by February 25, 2011. The Intent to Participate Form indicates the number of students that are committed to participating in the program.  Upon receipt of aforementioned items, Program Staff will send you your students Legislative Assignments to you via email.

  3. Students should begin work on assignments!

  4. Pre-Legislative Submission is: March 4, 2011. The following items are due:
         -AdvisorsDelegation Roster
                             
    Hotel Reservation Form
                             
    Lt. Governor Nomination Form
         -Legislative DelegatesBills
          Due via Online Submission by 11pm March 4th.

  5. Attend the Pre-Legislative Session @ Trenton, NJ.
    Students will learn Program procedures and gain valuable information to further prepare themselves for Conference.

    The following items are due at the Pre-Legislative Session:
         -Advisors: Remainder of all Program fees.
         -Judicial Delegates (Courts)Outline of Case Briefs 
         -LobbyistsClient Research Memo 

  6. Final Program Submission are due March 25, 2011.  The following items are due:
         -AdvisorsUpdated Delegation Roster
                        Updated Hotel Reservation Form
         -Legislative DelegatesBills
          due via Online Submission by 11pm March 27th.
         -LobbyistsClient Bill Research
         -Judicial Delegates (Courts)Judicial Briefs
         
    -TreasurersBill Statement and Budgets
         
    -Press: Press Assignment
         
    -Junior LegislatorsJr. Legislator Assignment

  7. Come to Trenton, NJ April 8th-10th, 2011 with an open mind and willingness to learn and have fun.
    Conference registration begins Friday at 9am.
