Bill Requirements

All Bills submitted for consideration at the Program must contain the following:
- Bills must be typewritten or printed on the official form. (See sample Bill)
- Bills may not exceed two (2) sides of an official form. Single spacing is allowed with double spacing between sections. Bills, which exceed this length, will not be
accepted.
- An Assembly member may only Sponsor one Bill and Co-Sponsor one additional
Bill. Senators may Sponsor or Co-Sponsor up to three (3) Bills. Each legislative
delegate must Co-Sponsor at least one Bill.
- A Bill may not have more than two (2) Sponsors – one Senator and one
Assemblyperson. All Sponsors MUST be from the same Legislature.
- A Bill which was signed into law during the previous three (3) Youth Legislatures
may not be submitted. A list of those Bills is provided on the SUCCESSFUL
LEGISLATION pages that follow.
- Each delegation must submit a minimum of one (1) Bill for every two (2) delegates
and may submit a maximum of one (1) Bill for every delegate.
- No two (2) delegates’ from the same delegation may have the same Bill topic.
- Bill not received by the deadline will NOT be included in the Bill Book. Sponsors of
late Bills will be required to bring 150 copies, 3-hole punched to the Program.
- The Program Staff reserves the right to exclude inappropriate Bills.
