ASSEMBLY / SENATE CHAPLAIN

Qualifications

  • Must be an active delegation member
  • Must possess ability to set a positive tone over all proceedings
  • Must be able to speak well in public
  • Must have ability to develop and present suitable inspirational messages, which are
    respectful and inclusive of all beliefs
  • Should have experience in local school, house of worship, or YMCA spiritual
    activities
  • Must show an acceptance of Program goals, philosophy, and rules

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares special prayers or inspirational readings for designated occasions and
    opening sessions of the Youth Senate or Youth Assembly
  • Makes full use of all opportunities to maintain a role of spiritual leadership
  • May sponsor legislation, actively debate and vote in Chambers
  • Exemplifies the Code of Conduct and YMCA Ground Rules

Election

  • Elections are held at Pre-Leg
  • Each candidate will give a 1-minute speech in support of his/her candidacy
  • Each candidate will present a 2-minute reading of an inspirational nature
